About
David Fincher's seductive whodunit is a faithful adaptation of Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel about the troubled marriage of New York journalists Amy and Nick. When Amy (Rosamund Pike) vanishes on her husband's birthday, she is feared abducted or murdered and Nick (Ben Affleck) is the prime suspect. Following a trail of birthday presents left by Amy, Nick finds himself drawn into the mystery of her disappearance, and a series of duplicitous characters and twists and turns. Gone Girl is a contemporary take on the noir scenario of an ordinary life turned chaotic, coupled with an elaborate plot about revenge. It boasts a chilling score by Trent Reznor and a strong supporting cast, with Tyler Perry playing a celebrity criminal defence attorney and Neil Patrick Harris as a creepy past love interest.
